"As a young girl, I suffered severe menstrual cycles and was later diagnosed with endometriosis. For over two decades I have experienced excruciating pain before and during my cycles. Cramping that felt as if my ovaries were in vices, clotting, heavy bleeding, nausea, pain running down my leg, back pains, all painful to the point where missing work was common. Having to stop all activity just to ‘breathe’ through the pain was all I could do. OTC pain medications only caused constipation further irritating the endo. My muscles would be in knots due to the tension and stress. Emotionally, I was a mess. Moodiness, anger, short tempered, and over thinking. My doctor said I could either have surgery which, he did not recommend as I’m in my mid thirties, or OTC treatments and alter my lifestyle. So, I became passionate about the latter. I made some small changes to my diet and exercise routines with little but some, improvement in my illness. Then I found Jamie Koonce in an article in Yoga Journal, and she was featured in an article for Chinese medicine alternatives to PMS! she was able to prescribe 2 Chinese formulas. One for before my cycle, one for after. I am now mid cycle and I have had only a few hours of extremely mild cramps. None of the other symptoms at all! Moodiness, heavy bleeding, all of it, not here. As a side note, I also have not taken any OTC medications at all! And I have energy and am sleeping wonderfully. I followed my gut and I don’t understand all the hows but I do know I feel amazing. Normal!! Thank you Dr. Koonce. Your kindness, experience, and willingness to heal are unmatched!" - Renee
